Pride Doubleheader
This Weekend.
The Cleveland Pride PASL soccer
team plays two matches this weekend. First, Saturday night
they travel to Detroit to face Waza FC. Waza claimed victory
in the first match 29-5 back in January. Sunday, the Pride
comes home to face the Winchster Impact. The Pride comes
in with a 0-5-0 overall record. The team lost to F.C.
Indiana in their last game, 8-6. Waza host Cleveland with
a record of 5-1-0, already clinhcing home-field advantage
in the division playoffs. Winchester comes in with a 4-4-0
overall record and is in second place in the Atlantic
PASL division. Winchester has won four straight games
after beginning the season 0-4-0. Leading
the Pride in scoring is forward Adam McMahan (Brunswick/Baldwin-Wallace)
who has four goals for eight total points. Second in
scoring is forward Derick Sullivan (Parma/Baldwin-Wallace)
who has three goals and one assist for seven points..
Tied for third in scoring is captain Ed Holmes (Columbia
Station/Baldwin-Wallace) and rookie Anthony Ghanem (Berea/Case
Western) who both have five points. Holmes has a goal
and three assists, Ghanem, two goals and one assist.
In between the pipes, Joe Emery (Lakewood)
will make his third start of the season. Emery played
brilliantly last match despite the loss, securing 13
saves.
Waza has been on a roll lately, win
five straight matches en route to their second regular
season division championship.
Leading the Impact in scoring is forward
Gui Fonseca who has 20 points, nine goals and two assists.
Second in scoring is Mike Koper, who has seven goals
and two assists for 14 points. Chris Peter will start
in goal for the Impact.
